What is the version of Adobe Acrobat / Reader you are trying to install on Windows 7. Was it working before on the same machine?

Also, you may try to uninstall Adobe Reader/Acrobat using cleaner tool if the version is 9 or above:  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html

Try reinstall again and let me know.
